4Restore our fortunes, O Lord, like the watercourses in the Negeb.
5May those who sow in tears reap with shouts of joy.
6Those who go out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, carrying their sheaves. Psalm 126:4-6
Due to some computer glitches, Bev accidentally sent the wrong devotion. Below is what she meant to send today!
Sometimes there are things that we experience that affect the rest of our lives. I hope Daddy doesn’t hit me again. I hope he leaves Mommy alone. Sometimes when we are little we hope for less intense things. I hope I get a bicycle. I hope Grandma and Grandpa visit again this summer.
But regardless of what we hope for, one thing is a certainty. Through all our hopes, all our experiences, God is with us. When we walk through the valley of despair, God walks beside us. When we jump up and down to celebrate a personal or societal victory, God leaps with us.
I, like most Christians, am filled with hope at Advent time. I am looking forward eagerly to the return of Jesus to be with all human beings. But I really don’t have to hope for an event in the distant future because God has never left us. God has been by my side (just over my shoulder), by your side, by everyone’s side throughout all eternity. My hope for the future is for all humanity to realize that. And to share with each other the love that God bestows.
