Bay Shore Lutheran Church Foundation

The Bay Shore Lutheran Church Foundation was organized to carry out the religious, charitable and educational purposes of Bay Shore Lutheran Church. This is accomplished by the annual granting of funds to groups within Bay Shore Lutheran Church as well as other ELCA – related organizations in the Milwaukee area.  Members and friends of Bay Shore Lutheran Church can help with this mission through bequests, gifts, donations, memorial tributes, etc.  (Funds/assets of the Bay Shore Lutheran Church Foundation are held and invested by the Greater Milwaukee Foundation.)

Grant applications are accepted each Fall (by September 30th).  After the deadline, a grant committee (made up of at least three of the Foundation’s nine directors) meets to consider each application.  Recommendations as to the approving/denying of each grant are noted, along with the suggested amount of each approved grant.

The full Foundation board (nine directors) then meets to discuss the grant committee’s recommendations.  Funds are disbursed once a vote has been taken that results in majority approval of the board. Grants made in 2016 totaled $27,479.00.

Those groups benefiting from the Bay Shore Lutheran Church Foundation grant disbursements include, but are not limited to:

Bay Shore Lutheran Church Building & Grounds, Bay Shore Lutheran Church Youth, Bay Shore Lutheran Church Soup ‘R Books, Bay Shore Lutheran Church Cover Girls, Bay Shore Lutheran Church Outreach (for meals at Bay Shore’s partner church, Hephatha Lutheran), Bay Shore Lutheran Church Choir, Hephatha Lutheran Church, Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and Lutheran Campus Ministry (for programs at UW – Milwaukee and Marquette University).
