Book Club

What else lies ahead for Soup’R Books? Here is the schedule for the first part of 2019. All events include an optional meal at 5 pm, followed by the book discussion at 5:30. All are welcome!

Sunday, January 27—They May Not Mean To, But They Do, by Cathleen Schine. Treating a serious subject with a light touch, this book explores a family’s nuanced relationships as the octogenarian mother shifts from being a reliable support to her failing spouse to being herself a person in need of support. Copies available now in the church office.

Sunday, March 10—The Death and Life of the Great Lakes, by Dan Egan. How well do you know the Great Lakes—the massive fresh water bodies that so very much affect our lives? This engaging book, written by a hometown journalist, provides an insightful understanding of how and why the Great Lakes have changed, and what could be done in the future.

Sunday, April 28—Educated, by Tara Westover. The author tells of her upbringing by a survivalist family—and a jarring transition from meager home-schooling to the complexity of college and the university.
